Bowers & Wilkins 683 Theatre wins EISA Award

Chosen as European Loudspeaker System 2014-2015

“A glorious multichannel speaker system,” say EISA’s expert judges, as they praise the use of
innovative technologies including the new 600 Series’ Decoupled Double Dome tweeter and
the resulting sound, so good it could “grace any high-quality stereo setup.”

Following a series of five-star, rave reviews for the new 600 Series, Bowers & Wilkins is proud to announce that the 683 Theatre system has been awarded European Loudspeaker System 2014-2015 by the European Imaging and Sound Association (EISA). The prestigious award is decided upon by a panel of expert hi-fi and home cinema reviewers from across Europe.

The EISA judging panel concluded: “Ever since the first 600 Series loudspeakers were launched in 1995, Bowers & Wilkins most popular range has continued to be defined by its application of innovative technologies. The new 600 Series is no exception, with all its models benefitting from the latest generation of woven Kevlar® bass/mid cones that saw their debut some 20 years ago. In the slim new 683 floorstanders, these Kevlar units are supplemented by a pair of aluminium bass drivers while the entire range of 683, smaller 686 wall-mountable surrounds and impressive HTM61 centre speaker all feature Bowers & Wilkins latest Decoupled Double Dome aluminium tweeters. While the new 683 floorstanders would grace any high-quality stereo setup, in combination with the 686, HTM61 and ASW610XP subwoofer they make for a glorious multichannel speaker system.”

The new 683 Theatre is a package of speakers designed to deliver outstanding home cinema surround sound and stereo hi-fi for the most demanding of setups and largest of rooms. It comprises a pair of 683 floorstanders, an HTM61 centre, a pair of 686 speakers for rear surround, plus an ASW610XP subwoofer. The 683 is the largest speaker in the new 600 Series – designed to deliver outstanding power, accuracy and musicality. It features a new Decoupled Double Dome tweeter, an FST™ midrange driver and new Dual Layer aluminium bass drivers for richer, distortion-free bass.

The 686 is the smallest speaker in new 600 Series and also features a Decoupled Double Dome tweeter for stunning clarity and tonal purity, as well as an improved Kevlar driver. And the new HTM61 is the larger of the new 600Series centre speakers, a perfect match for the mighty 683 floorstanders. As well as the Decoupled Double Dome tweeter, it features a pair of powerful 6.5 inch Dual Layer bass drivers and an FTS midrange driver. The result is a serious centre speaker, ideal for the biggest of big-screen action.

The EISA Award for Loudspeaker System 2014-2015 demonstrates that the new 683 Theatre is a versatile and serious audio performance speaker system for both hi-fi and home cinema. It truly delivers on the promise on the entire new 600 Series: amazing sound and amazing value-for-money.
