The Focal Kanta N°2 is a three-way bass-reflex floorstanding loudspeaker designed around a combination of Focal’s Flax cone technology and pure Beryllium tweeter technology. The Kanta N°2 brings together Focal’s latest acoustic developments with a distinctive contemporary cabinet design, creating a loudspeaker intended for high-fidelity listening in both dedicated and larger living spaces.

At the top of the cabinet is Focal’s latest-generation 27mm ‘IAL3’ pure Beryllium inverted-dome tweeter. IAL3 Beryllium Tweeter

The Kanta N°2 uses Focal’s latest-generation ‘IAL3’ pure Beryllium inverted-dome tweeter. Focal developed the inverted-dome Beryllium tweeter to combine the material’s high rigidity with extended high-frequency reproduction.

Focal specifies the tweeter as covering more than five octaves, from 1,000Hz to 40kHz, for the reproduction of high-frequency detail.

Flax Cone Technology

The Kanta N°2’s midrange and bass drivers use Focal’s Flax sandwich cone. This patented construction places high-quality French flax fibre between two thin sheets of glass fibre.

Focal describes the Flax cone as combining lightness for dynamics, rigidity for bass control and damping characteristics intended to provide a neutral, natural presentation.

TMD® Suspension & NIC Motor

The 165mm midrange driver incorporates Focal’s TMD® — Tuned Mass Damper — suspension technology. The system uses carefully positioned toroidal masses to stabilise the suspension and control its behaviour.

The midrange and woofer drivers also incorporate Focal’s NIC — Neutral Inductance Circuit — motor technology. Focal describes NIC as a magnetic circuit incorporating an optimised Faraday ring designed to stabilise the magnetic field within the driver.

Cabinet & Acoustic Design

The Kanta N°2 uses a moulded multi-ply cabinet with a high-density polymer front panel. Focal states that the HDP front panel is 70% denser than MDF, 15% more rigid and offers 25% more damping.

The cabinet incorporates Focal’s Focus Time design, positioning the loudspeaker drivers at the same distance from the listener. The Kanta N°2 also uses Power Flow multi-port technology, with ports located at the front and rear of the cabinet.
