PS Audio PerfectWave Disc Transport

The PS Audio PerfectWave Transport (PWT) is a high-performance digital disc transport designed to extract the maximum possible performance from CD-based media. Unlike conventional CD players that incorporate an internal DAC, the PerfectWave Transport functions purely as a digital source component, delivering data to an external DAC through a range of digital outputs while eliminating many of the limitations associated with traditional optical disc playback.

Developed as part of PS Audio’s acclaimed PerfectWave Series, the PWT utilizes a unique memory-based architecture that reads and buffers disc data before transmission. By reducing reliance on real-time disc reading, the system minimizes timing errors and improves data integrity, resulting in a cleaner digital signal for downstream conversion.

A standout feature of the PerfectWave Transport is its ability to output native high-resolution data from SACDs when paired with compatible PS Audio DACs via the company’s proprietary I²S interface over HDMI. This capability distinguished the PWT from most conventional transports of its generation. The PWT will not play SACD only or DVDA discs.

In performance terms, the PerfectWave Transport was developed to overcome many of the limitations associated with conventional real-time optical disc playback.
